Work for good
Partners in purpose
This isn’t charity. It’s partnership. Your work speaks for itself, and the goal is to help it speak louder. Strategy, creativity, and execution shaped around what you need, when you need it.
Built for scalable impact
You’re doing the work to move the needle on people and planet. That deserves visibility. This initiative exists to help resource-strapped non-profits and grassroots causes redirect time, energy, and funding toward what matters most – the work itself.
What to expect
Frequently asked questions
Does my organisation need to pay for this service?
The services are offered completely free of charge. However, depending on your needs, you may need to set aside a budget for advertising or platform fees. In some cases, grants from these companies are available for eligible non-profits. Rest assured, every project is designed to make the greatest possible impact within the available budget.
We submitted a project proposal but circumstances have changed. What now?
Circumstances change and that’s completely okay. If you need to retract your project request at any point, you’re free to do so. As a courtesy to fellow non-profits, a quick email to let PBD know is appreciated.
Projects officially begin once all parties have signed a contract. This agreement ensures a mutual commitment to the work and can only be terminated in cases of force majeure or when legal, financial, or human resource limitations prevent either party from fulfilling their role.
Organisations operating in highly unstable environments, or those facing potential resource or capacity challenges in the next 3 to 6 months, are kindly asked to reconsider applying at this time.
How much time is dedicated towards our project?
Capacity depends on available resources and the scope of the work. To ensure quality, only one project can be accepted each quarter – or, for more resource-heavy initiatives, one every six months. The goal is to support 2-4 projects per year. Once accepted, a project typically receives around 48-96 hours of dedicated time, sometimes more depending on the cause. Timelines and commitments are always discussed upfront and prioritised accordingly.
How long do I have to wait to receive an update on my project request?
Project requests are reviewed on a rolling basis. Most are processed within 2 to 4 weeks, though some may take longer depending on complexity or capacity. To maintain high-quality outcomes, only a limited number of projects can be taken on at any given time. The goal is to reserve 10-20% of Pale Blue Dot’s resources towards pro bono initiatives. Even if a project is not selected, eligible submissions may be featured on the PBD website and social media channels to increase visibility and help connect with professionals in the network.
How do we know our project is a fit?
Non-profits of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to share their story*. Project requests are evaluated based on their environmental or social impact – think LGBTQ+ advocacy, gender and racial equity, food access, child welfare, animal protection, environmental cleanup, accessibility initiatives, and more. Standout initiatives may also be featured on LinkedIn, where they’re shared with a network of like-minded individuals who may offer their skills to help your project succeed.
Please note: organisations with extreme or exclusionary views or political affiliations will not be considered. Read our code of ethics to learn more.
How do we send in our project request?
Click the link on this page to access a Google Form with questions about your organisation, project needs, relevant experience, and available resources. Ideally, the form should be completed by the person responsible for overseeing the project, as they will act as the main point of contact throughout.
Do you only accept marketing-related projects?
Pale Blue Dot specialises in marketing services such as content strategy, contextual advertising, and web data analysis. Projects that primarily require these services will receive priority. That said, all non-profit organisations – big or small – are encouraged to submit a request, even if the project falls (partially) outside this focus. The aim is to tap into a network of like-minded professionals from a broad range of disciplines to provide free, high-quality expertise that supports meaningful growth.
I'd like to volunteer my skills, what can I do?
Supporting these organisations can have a real impact on environmental and social causes. A strong network of like-minded professionals willing to contribute their skills is essential to helping non-profits maximise their reach and effectiveness. To join the network, follow the link on this page and complete a short questionnaire.
Can I only volunteer my skills if I'm in marketing?
Absolutely not. All skills and areas of expertise are welcome in the Work for Good network. Whether experienced in web development, legal support, event coordination, or content creation, anyone with time to spare and a willingness to support meaningful causes is encouraged to sign up. Relevant opportunities will be shared as they arise.
